Things OS X does right #1:
You can switch applications in most operating systems with the Alt/Cmd+Tab keys. Holding down either Alt or Cmd (depending on the OS) and pressing Tab brings up a small frame with the currently open applications in it; subsequent taps of Tab move your selection to the next application. Unsurprisingly, if you overshoot your desired application, pressing Shift+Tab will move your selection back one. However, Apple took it one step further - once you’ve engaged the application-switch window, pressing Cmd+Tilde (the ~ button, on the top-left corner of the keyboard) moves the application back one.
Normally Cmd+Tilde cycles through all open windows of the currently selected application, but when you’re switching applications it’s clear that this isn’t the behavior you’re looking for. And since Tilde is one button above Tab, someone at Apple decided to do something thoughtful with it.
By the way, “Things OS X does right” is going to be a regular feature here. Because they do a lot of things right. Maybe I should start a new tumblr for it. http://thingsappledoesright.tumblr.com
This song has been playing on my computer all day. Wait for the chorus.
I was thinking how nice it would be to have a command-line utility to do simple calculations and conversions without opening the browser… and someone else had already created it. So now I’m using it. And it’s great.

Really quite good - sounds a lot like My Brightest Diamond, but I like it better. My Brightest Diamond has an incredible voice, but she’s a little too weepy for me most of the time, if that makes any sense. I enjoyed her song on Dark Was The Night though.
